Projects
A practice management system for a Kenyan law firm — matters, court diary, trust accounting, billing, documents, and a client portal — with the domain modelled from actual Kenyan statute and its architecture enforced by the linter.
An 11-module personal finance suite — transactions, accounts, budgets, bills, savings goals, debts, loans, assets, wishlist, and habits — with an analytics dashboard visualizing income and expenses.
AI-powered mental health chatbot with multi-LLM support (OpenAI + Mistral), mood tracking, journaling, and mini-games. NextAuth authentication with NeonDB serverless Postgres and Prisma ORM.
Loan management and investment prototype built with Next.js and Supabase for authentication and secure financial interactions.
Writing
From the blog
A rule enforced in one place is not enforced
One rule about client money ended up in four places — the domain, a database trigger, a repository translation, and the ordering of two writes. Each answers a different question, and removing any one leaves a system that passes its tests and is wrong on a busy afternoon.
The failures that cost the most are the silent ones
Two chart bars drew in nothing on a page whose figures had already been checked in a browser. A sign-in refusal rendered as ordinary body text. Neither threw, neither logged, and neither was findable by looking — so I started parsing the stylesheet in a test.
